Peter has once again proudly helped out a very worthwhile cause—donating his magical image, Desire, for auction during the St. Jude Celebrity Poker Tournament this past weekend. On Saturday, November 8, the normally non-gaming facility, Vdara, made a generous exception by housing a benefit for unfortunate children suffering with cancer. With celebrities, socialites and professional poker players dressed to the hilt, the setting was primed for a bidding war over fine art from the Master Photographer.
Members of Boyz II Men and cast from the TV series Psych were just some of the few familiar faces in the crowd as the evening kicked off. Top shelf cocktails and exquisite cuisine kept the philanthropic group in smiles, some of whom paid $10,000 for a St. Jude tournament buy-in. Hosted and chaired by famed poker player Daniel Negreanu, the evening’s prizes also included a 2015 Corvette Stingray.
Desire, captured in Arizona’s Antelope Canyon, was an undoubtedly fitting offering from Peter Lik. This captivating photograph showcases an underground cavern, uncannily resembling a glowing, beating heart. The moving image was ultimately acquired for an outstanding $6,500. Peter commented: “I’m always happy to help out great charities like St. Jude. Very gratifying to see my work doing some good in this world!”
This was not the first time Peter Lik has teamed up with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and it certainly won’t be the last. LIK USA, Peter’s Las Vegas-based headquarters, will be partnering with the wonderful organization once more at their Grand Gala in May, 2015. Stay tuned for more!
