Peter Lik Represents for Good Cause In Homeland Australia

Updated 07/28/2021

Peter Lik’s piece, Enchanted Morning, was proudly auctioned off at a wonderful benefit in Sydney on Thursday, October 23. In the picturesque, coastal town of Woolloomooloo (say that five times fast), Sony Foundation’s Wharf 4 Ward event - considered by some to be "Sydney’s best charity lunch" - went off without a hitch. This year’s extravaganza was held in support of Sony’s You Can program, which uses funds to build youth cancer centers around Australia.

The exclusive luncheon featured cuisines from top restaurants that line the local piers: Otto, Manta, China Doll, Kingsleys, AKI’s, and Criniti’s. As the nearly 1,000 philanthropic guests and hosts enjoyed the food, drink, and atmosphere they were treated to special performances by Sony artists Human Nature, Jessica Mauboy, Dami Im, and X Factor Australia winner Marlisa Punzalan.

During the event, various items were auctioned off, including Enchanted Morning, Peter Lik’s vision of an abandoned rowboat sitting still in the mystical grey waters of Martha’s Vineyard. After a tight bidding war, this masterwork was ultimately sold to an anonymous collector for an undisclosed amount. In total, the whole event managed to rake in an impressive $880,000, making it the most successful Wharf 4 Ward ever!

Peter Lik commented: “While it was great to be a part of something so positive - to be able to represent in my home country made it that much sweeter!” Not only did Peter grow up in Australia, it is where he first established his empire of fine art LIK Galleries. Perhaps it is no wonder the Master Photographer’s landscape images are still highly coveted Down Under.

Good onya, Pete!
